Nashua, N.H., saves $48,500 with lighting upgrades
The Action Steps
Nashua, N.H., replaced light fixtures to improve energy efficiency at Street and Traffic Buildings, and added lighting upgrades and motion sensors at City Hall. Back in 2000, the City also installed an anaerobic digester at its wastewater treatment facility to recover methane from sewage treatment – which is then used to help power the facility itself.
The Savings
Nashua’s lighting upgrades at these two buildings save a combined $48,500 each year in energy costs. The anaerobic digester saves the facility $9,000 to $12,000 per month in electricity costs, and reduces the volume of waste by 50%.
