What We'll Cover

Get step-by-step guidance from ICLEI on how to implement a municipal sustainability plan using ICLEI’s proven approach of marrying smart strategy with sensible process:

• Hear the local government perspective from Aaron Cosentino, Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Elgin, on the process behind the Elgin Sustainability Action Plan.
• Leverage regional support with the skills and resources of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning to strengthen local sustainability planning.
• Engage in an interactive planning exercise based on ICLEI’s work with over 600 member communities nation-wide, including peer-to-peer problem solving in working through the initial stages of a sustainability plan.

Who Should Attend?

Local government professionals from the seven-county Chicago region, including sustainability staff, city planners, public works staff, environmental staff, and economic development specialists.  County staff are also encouraged to attend.  ICLEI membership is not required for participation.
