San Jose, CA, Jumps Ahead Of Portland On Food Waste Recycling

For years, the Portland area has struggled to keep its food waste out of landfills. Last week, San Jose, Calif., announced its pursuit of a solution: Building a biogas plant that would turn food and yard waste into methane gas and compost.

San Jose's planned biogas plant would be the first of its kind in the nation and would help the city reach its 2022 goal of keeping all its waste out of landfills.
