Midwest local government staff:
Get trained by ICLEI's experts and your municipal peers on the basics of greenhouse gas emissions inventories and reduction plans. This training is exclusively for Midwest municipal staff!
Date: Aug. 3, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Central
Place: Chicago, IL
Cost: Free for ICLEI members; $50 for non-members
Partners: ICLEI's Midwest Regional Office, Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning
Breakfast and lunch will be served!
The most forward-thinking local governments take the time to understand how and where they use energy before creating policy. Join ICLEI's Midwest regional office and partners for a training on the fundamentals of developing an energy and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reduction plan that leverages the results of a greenhouse gas emissions inventory, including an energy forecast, using ICLEI’s results-oriented inventory protocols – the only GHG protocols designed exclusively for U.S. local governments.
Participants will also learn the process by which local governments may research and adopt aggressive but achievable emissions reduction targets that are a key component of a strong plan. Learn from an Illinois local government about their energy and GHG emissions efforts, as well as the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) about how the agency and the regional comprehensive plan, GOTO 2040, can strengthen local efforts for energy planning, including data collection for emissions inventories.
