Green Building Webinar Series, Part 1: Green Buildings for Cool Cities

Part 1: Green Buildings for Cool Cities

Feb. 23, 2 p.m. Eastern

Join Aaron Lande from USGBC and Glen Brand from the Sierra Club as they provide an introduction to a new resource released by USGBC and the Sierra Club entitled, "Green Buildings for Cool Cities." During this presentation, Aaron will provide an overview of some of the green building strategies that are currently being used by local governments across the U.S. and be available to answer questions participants may have about replicating these efforts in their communities.

Part 4: Boston's Green Building Program

March 16, 2 p.m. Eastern

Join Sarah Zaphiris from the City of Boston as she details Boston's comprehensive Green Building Program. The presentation will highlight Boston's Green Affordable Housing Program, Article 37, which is a zoning amendment that requires private developments to be LEED certifiable, and the City of Boston's efforts to green its own buildings. Ms. Zaphiris will discuss the successes and challenges faced by the City and provide recommendations for how municipalities can replicate the efforts undertaken in Boston.

 

Part 5: Dallas' and El Paso's Green Building Programs

March 23, 2 p.m. Eastern

Join Zaida Basora and Marty Howell as they share information about green building efforts underway in Dallas and El Paso, respectively. During this webinar, participants will learn about El Paso's Green Building Grant Program, which provides grants for commercial and multi-family residential projects to obtain LEED certification, as well as hear from Zaida Basora who will speak about Dallas's Green Building Program and the City's recent adoption of comprehensive green building standards for residential and commercial construction. Including in this webinar will be an overview of both programs, lessons learned, and guidance on how to replicate similar efforts in your community.
