Green Building Webinar Series, Part 3: Boston's Green Building Program
Join ICLEI, in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council, for a six-part webinar series on strategies local governments can employ to reduce energy and water consumption in the built environment. Feb. 23 to March 30.
We'll focus on green building strategies employed by various local governments from around the United States. If you want to learn more about green building approaches (codes, ordinances, incentives, etc.), register today and check back shortly when speakers and topics are confirmed for the remaining dates.
Part 3: Boston's Green Building Program
March 16, 2 p.m. Eastern
Join Sarah Zaphiris from the City of Boston as she details Boston's comprehensive Green Building Program. The presentation will highlight Boston's Green Affordable Housing Program, Article 37, which is a zoning amendment that requires private developments to be LEED certifiable, and the City of Boston's efforts to green its own buildings. Ms. Zaphiris will discuss the successes and challenges faced by the City and provide recommendations for how municipalities can replicate the efforts undertaken in Boston.

During this presentation, Aaron will provide an overview of some of the green building strategies that are currently being used by local governments across the U.S. and be available to answer questions participants may have about replicating these efforts in their communities.

Part 2: Seattle’s Green Building Efforts
March 9 at 2 p.m. Eastern
Join Sandra Mallory, Program
Manager for the City of Seattle's Green Building Team as she provides
details about Seattle progress and national leading green building
efforts. During the presentation, Sandra will also shed some insight
into proposed changes to Seattle's policy and provide an opportunity
for the audience to feed in.

Part 4: Dallas's and El Paso's Green Building Programs
March 23, 2 p.m. Eastern
Join Zaida Basora and Marty
Howell as they share information about green building efforts underway
in Dallas and El Paso, respectively. During this webinar, participants
will learn about El Paso's Green Building Grant Program, which provides
grants for commercial and multi-family residential projects to obtain
LEED certification, as well as hear from Zaida Basora who will speak
about Dallas's Green Building Program and the City's recent adoption of
comprehensive green building standards for residential and commercial
construction. Including in this webinar will be an overview of both
programs, lessons learned, and guidance on how to replicate similar
efforts in your community.

Part 5: New York City’s Green Building Efforts
March 30 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern
Join Rohit Aggrawala and
Hilary Beber from the New York City office of Long Term Planning and
Sustainability as they provide details about New York City's suite of
green building efforts. The presentation will include details about the
City's Office of Long Term Planning and Sustainability, the recently
passed Greener Great Buildings Plan, and how the City is looking at
reducing energy consumption in buildings as a key strategy to meeting
the goals identified in PlaNYC. Additionally, the presentation will
address lessons learned and how other communities can replicate the
efforts underway in New York City.

Part 6: Delta, British Columbia's Eco-Industrial Approach
April 1, 2 p.m. Eastern
On April 1, join Marcy Sangret from Delta, British Columbia as she provides details about Delta's plans to revitalize 100 acres of industrial lands using an eco-industrial approach. During her presentation, Marcy will discuss Delta’s eco-industrial redevelopment concept, provide insight into lessons learned throughout the project, and shed light on how other communities can undertake a similar initiative.
