This webinar, sponsored by EPA’s Green Power Partnership and Local Climate and Energy Program will review success stories and opportunities for local and state governments to make significant progress toward their renewable energy goals using the Solar Roadmap platform.
March 21, 1:00-2:30 PM (EST) – Climate Change Adaptation for State and Local Governments, Part I: Achieving Buy-In for Adaptation
Beginning this month, EPA’s State and Local Climate and Energy Program will be hosting a three-part webcast series on climate change adaptation. This mini-series will build on our popular 2010-2011 adaptation mini-series. In Part I, experts and local government staff will discuss the importance of support for adaptation programs. Presenters will discuss the best ways to educate communities about climate impacts, walk through a case study about how to gain political buy-in for adaptation work, and how to address political opposition. Through presentations on best practices, case studies, and an interactive panel, experts will discuss how to integrate resilience considerations into mainstream decision-making and how to simultaneously address mitigation and adaptation. Part II, “Overcoming the Uncertainty Barrier to Adaptation” will be on April 17, and Part III, “Attracting Funding for Adaptation” will be on May 1.

Over the past decade, total data center energy use in the United States has almost quadrupled. Energy-efficiency program administrators can play a significant role in helping customers reduce data center energy use and demand. Based on the new ENERGY STAR guide on data center efficiency programs, this webinar will explore the energy saving opportunities available and share emerging practices for program design and implementation. Mark Bramfitt, former head of PG&E’s data center efficiency program, will lead the presentation and be available to answer questions.

Learn the basics of benchmarking using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, EPA’s no-cost energy measurement and tracking tool. Portfolio Manager enables you to track the progress of energy and water efficiency efforts and compare the energy use of your buildings with that of similar buildings nationwide. Attendees will learn how to use Portfolio Manager to establish energy and water use baselines, track energy and water use and greenhouse gas emission reductions over time, prioritize investments, and set goals. Attendees will also learn how EPA’s energy performance score compares peer facilities across the country, and how to take advantage of national recognition opportunities for top-performing buildings.
March 14, 1:00-2:00 PM (EDT) – Benchmark Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities Using EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
Learn how to track the progress of energy efficiency efforts and compare the energy use of wastewater treatment plants to other peer facilities across the country. Attendees will learn how to measure and track energy use and carbon dioxide emission reductions in wastewater treatment plants to establish baseline energy use, prioritize investments, set goals, and track improvements over time.

It will cover ways to promote tribal energy sufficiency and foster economic development and employment on tribal lands using renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

Investigations by NREL and others have illuminated the high cost and complexity of solar financing. There are many factors behind this and many possible solutions. Taking a page from other financing areas, NREL is leading a national effort through their SAPC program to streamline finance through standardization of transaction documents and contracts. NREL has assembled an impressive working group of leaders in the solar industry experienced in various contract instruments. To date, progress is being made and this webinar is a great opportunity to learn more about this work. The webcast will explore the complexities of solar financing in residential and commercial markets; what opportunities are there for streamlining, and/or developing more effective methods; and how can the broader industry support these efforts?
