U.S. Department of Transportation

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transportation Planning Capacity Building Program requests nominations for the 2012 Transportation Planning Excellence Awards. The award program, sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), in partnership with the Transportation Research Board, recognizes outstanding initiatives across the country to develop, plan, and implement innovative transportation planning practices. Nominations for individuals or organizations that used FHWA/FTA funding to develop a plan, project, or planning process that demonstrates excellence in planning will be accepted. Winners will represent a variety of planning organizations from across the county, and will receive awards at the Transportation Research Board Summer Meeting in 2012.

The application period will be open from October 1, 2011 through December 1, 2011. For more information, visit www.planning.dot.gov/tpea2012.
