David Cook: Chattanooga, Tennessee Green Committee
The Chattanoogan
One of the most hopeful, most urgent and most informative hours I have ever spent with representatives of our city government came last week when I had lunch with Gene Hyde and Brad McAllister.
Hyde, the urban forester for the city, and McAllister, an environmental scientist, gave a presentation to a group of students and adults regarding our city’s pledge regarding climate collapse. In 2006, Mayor Littlefield signed the US Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement, joining nearly 1000 other cities nationwide, including Nashville and Signal Mountain, Cookeville and Crossville, and representing nearly 81,000,000 American citizens.
