California Regional Updates, Summer 2009

Read the latest on climate and sustainability actions from all of ICLEI's sub-regions within California:

In Humboldt County, the Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA)  is supporting regional collaboration on climate and energy issues. The RCEA is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA), which represents seven municipalities (the Cities of Arcata, Blue Lake, Eureka, Ferndale, Fortuna, Trinidad and Rio Dell) and Humboldt County. RCEA leads the area’s Energy Watch Partnership, provides technical support on energy audits, retrofits, and renewable energy development throughout the community.

Most recently, RCEA has played a key role assisting local agencies to plan for federal stimulus funding opportunities. RCEA, in close partnership with the City of Arcata, is also working to explore the optimal public financing scenario, assessing the pros and cons of AB 811 in comparison with the pending Senate Bill 279.
