Groton, Connecticut Coastal Climate Adaptation Workshop: Meeting Notes and Presentations
Presentations and meeting notes from the three-part Groton Coastal Climate Adaptation Workshop, designed to help engage representatives from federal, state, and municipal governments in climate adaptation efforts and to begin defining strategies for maximizing resilience to coastal impacts throughout Connecticut and the Northeast.

View or download the final report, presentations, and videos from the three-part 2010 Groton Coastal Climate Adaptation Workshop, which brought together local, state, and federal representations to discuss climate adaptation issues.
With support from the EPA's Climate Ready Estuaries program -- which builds capacity for climate change adaptation within the National Estuary Program -- ICLEI and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection's Long Island Sound Program facilitated a three-part workshop series designed to help engage representatives from federal, state, and municipal governments in climate adaptation efforts and to begin defining strategies for maximizing resilience to coastal impacts throughout Connecticut and the Northeast.
The three workshops were structured as follows:
- Workshop One oriented
participants to the adaptation planning process and discussed projected
regional climate impacts with a specific focus on sea level rise.
- Workshop Two focused on
vulnerabilities and identifying appropriate adaptation actions.
- Workshop Three brought
together federal, state, and local stakeholders to answer the question,
“How do we collaborate across political boundaries to prepare for climate
change impacts and identify strategies for implementing adaptation
actions?”
