Program Officer - Oakland, CA

As Program Officer with the California Team, Wesley provides technical assistance to local governments in California’s Great Central Valley, Central Coast, and San Francisco Bay Area regions. Wesley has played an instrumental role in building regional climate protection efforts, most notably in Marin County through the formation of the Marin Climate and Energy Partnership.

In addition to providing technical support to local governments, Wesley contributes to the development of ICLEI tools and publications. Of particular focus, Wesley is working to expand ICLEI’s resources for supporting the inclusion of climate and energy policy in general planning efforts -- work that has been informed by his involvement in the development of an Energy and Climate Change Element for the City of Richmond’s general plan update.

Prior to focusing on California climate policy, Wesley led programmatic support for ICLEI members in the Southeast United States. Wesley worked to build statewide networks in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina, and supported local governments in a broad array of climate activities.

Before joining ICLEI, Wesley worked in the field of green construction, and is familiar with green building techniques, renewable energy installation procedure and the use of biofuels. Wesley has also worked in India and Central America on rural development projects, with an interest in coalition building. Wesley holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
