Mike Steinhoff joined the National Technical Team in April 2009, and works out of the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Regional Office in Boston.  Mike primarily works toward the ongoing development of the CAPPA Decision Support Tool, as well as providing technical support in other ICLEI program areas.

Mike holds dual Masters Degrees in Environmental Science and Public Affairs from Indiana University and a Bachelors Degree in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Tennessee.  While in graduate school Mike worked for the City of Bloomington Indiana, where he performed the city’s first greenhouse gas inventory and sustainability assessment, as well as evaluated the ecosystem services provided by the city’s street trees. 

Mike had worked in various capacities at Indiana University laying the foundations for the IU Office of Sustainability, most recently as Internship Coordinator.  Mike brings to the table an interdisciplinary background that includes everything from growing organic veggies on the farm and micro-algae in the belly of a heating plant; to battling invasive plants in national parks and inefficient buildings everywhere.
