Program Director - STAR Community Index - Pacific Northwest
As the Program Director for the STAR Community Index, Lynne will be managing the development and implementation of a national voluntary, consensus-based framework for improving the livability and sustainability of U.S. communities. STAR is a collaborative initiative between ICLEI, the U.S. Green Building Council and the Center for American Progress. Prior to joining ICLEI, Lynne was the Sustainable Community Planner for City Green Building, a program of Seattle’s Department of Planning and Development. Lynne’s was responsible for promoting sustainable community development and developing innovative public policies and programs. Lynne created her first job in green building as Sustainable Construction Manager for Sellen Construction Company. Lynne co-chaired the LEED™ Committee of the US Green Building Council, served two terms on the US Green Building Council’s Board of Directors, and was a co-founder and founding board member of the Cascadia Region Green Building Council. Barker was a recipient of the 2007 Cascadia Fellows Lifetime Achievement Award. More recently, she formed a consortium of public agencies, non-profit organizations and utilities to develop the “Playbook for Green Buildings + Neighborhoods,” a web-based tool to support local governments in meeting climate action goals by advancing green buildings and neighborhoods.
