Jonathan Strunin

Jonathan Strunin joined ICLEI in May 2008 as a Program Officer, working as part of the California team. At ICLEI he provides support to members in the San Francisco Bay Area region and beyond to help quantify greenhouse gas emissions and meet reduction targets. He is also focused on building the California member network, developing Climate Action Plans for local governments, and participating in the State’s actions in meeting the greenhouse gas reduction targets outlined in the California Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32, adopted 2006).

Jonathan brings a strong familiarity with local, regional, and state land use and transportation policy to ICLEI, having worked for three years in regional planning at the Association of Bay Area Governments. At ABAG he worked with local governments, stakeholders, and other regional agencies to create and implement a regional growth strategy for the Bay Area. He has also worked with the US Green Building Council, and a community development corporation in New Haven, CT on various projects related to sustainable and equitable urban development.

Jonathan received his Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies in 2005 focusing on urban sustainability, and holds a B.A. in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley.
