Daniella Hirschfeld
Program Officer - Boston, MA
As a Program Officer in ICLEI's Climate Programs Division, Daniella Hirschfeld builds climate adaptation tools, resources, and trainings for local governments throughout the country. With a focus on vulnerability assessments and hazard mitigation planning, Daniella helps increase local government’s resilience to climate change.
Daniella Hirschfeld joined ICLEI’s climate adaptation team after a two-year NOAA Coastal Zone Management Fellowship, during which time she was the program manager of the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management’s StormSmart Coasts program. In this capacity she helped communities create innovative programs and adopt new regulatory frameworks to better prepare for sea level rise.
Daniella began her two-year fellowship in September 2008 after completing her master’s degree in environmental management at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. At Duke she concentrated on global environmental change and did her thesis work on Jordan’s future water resources. In addition to her graduate work, Daniella was a Doris Duke Conservation Fellow and on the executive committee of the Duke Chapter of The Coastal Society. Daniella completed her undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College, focusing in psychology and philosophy.
